You have received a LOT of advice to your question, some of it quite contradictory.

My last and final advice would be to take someone along to look seriously at the car WHO HAS REBUILT A CS. The problem with the e9 is that by the time it "shows" rust on the OUTSIDE, it could be beyong economic hope INSIDE. This is unlike most other cars most of us have worked with. It's not "bad" (remember we are talking about almost 30 year old cars here), just different.

Just don't plan to use information gained on other cars to judge e9 cars, because they really ARE a different animal in some expensive ways. Most who don't know or believe this now, will after they actually dig (deep) into their cars.

NO ONE on this board is trying to sour you on e9s. We LOVE them! I honestly believe that the folks here are trying to help you avoid problems thay unexpectidly blundered into themselves on their first e9 project, so take the advice for what it's worth.

Good luck on your project. Just remember that sometimes it's better to pay a little more to save a LOT later, but make sure what you're paying for was honest work (not shiny paint over bondo).

Bob
