Prepare yourself to walk away from the prospect if you are advised the car isn't worth the asking price. This may take some emotional gymnastics but it's best to go into the deal from the start with possibility that you may not buy.
It's also important not to be swayed by superficial aesthetics. As Bob pointed out it is fairly easy to hide a bad body. Poke around if you can, use a magnet to try and discover bondo and check the line along the body (often if there is extensive body work, the line will disappear).
Don't let your emotions take over. There will be other CS's out there.
