Not really sure, but for some reason the phrase 'teak' sticks in my head. Possibly from some old road test report, perhaps.

One thing I can guarantee, having had the entire dashboard of my car apart many years ago, is that it's a quite thin veneer laid over about 12 thickness plywood. I don't think you have to dig very deep on these 'hand-built' cars of the 60's & 70's to find all the shortcuts of the coachbuilder's art...
