Troy, If you're faced with a rebuild, I'd highly recommend going with the 5-speed. It's very nice. If you're mechanically inclined, you can do it yourself. You could find the parts yourself, but you might want to contact a parts supplier like Mesa Performance (who set me up with all of the parts I needed to do an auto-5-speed conversion on my 3.0CS). The conversion is no small task, but it will be easier to do a 4-speed than it was to do an automatic conversion. You'll need parts from various models of cars to piece it together, plus you'll have to shorten your driveline.

FYI, I'm looking for a really, really nice 3.0CSi to replace my recently rear-ended 3.0CS, so let me know if you know of any coupe hiding places where I can look. There could be some parts in it for you, if I buy a coupe that you find for me! :-)

is the extra cost of doing the five speed worth the cost.

do you know of a more inexpensive way to go about it. should I just hunt down a used tranny from a junk yard?

let me know.

Troy
