I guess I didn't word that right. What I meant was that the doors are basically all the same for the E9 so you can put later type regulators in an early door and vice versa. E24 regulators might work but I doubt they would bolt up, haven't tried it myself.

Regulators from E24 or others wiil also work and bolt into our coupe?

There are early and late type motors and regulators too. The early ones look kind of like sardine cans and I don't think the E28 fix works with the corresponding early regulators. You can put any matched motor/regulator combo in any cs door though.
