cylinder. The 2800CS has a proportioning valve under the rear of the car. The proportioning valve is the same as the 3.0 valve. The master cylinders while having different part numbers are not different enough to cause any difference in braking. Personally, I have done the conversion and while I have changed to an E28 master cylinder and redone the braking system, I can tell you that the difference, if there is one, is not significant enough to do anything. Basically, I wouldn't be worried about it, BMW does not put in a lot of rear brake bias into any of thier cars. If you are worried about it then I would suggest changing it, but it is not necassary. In fact, if leave in the 2800CS master cylinder you might find more effective rear brakes, but I wouldn't worry about it. If anything, get yourself an adjustable proportioning valve. These are easy to find and plump in.

Hope this helps,

Don't forget! The master cylinder is different for disk brake cars. The 2800cs uses the same master as a 2002tii, the 3.0cs master is the same as Bavarias and most E12's. Supposedly they have different proportioning for disks vs. drums, though they are the same diameter. I suspect but cannot confirm the only difference is the presence of a little brass fitting in the end of the master cyl. where the rear metal line attaches on the 2800cs master which is not used on the 3.0cs master.

What you need to convert is the trailing arms, calipers, rotors, parking brake pads, parking brake hardware, parking brake cables, trailing arm hard brake line. These trailing arms bolt onto the the 2800cs subframe. If you have a 3.0 with the rear disks, all you have to do is take the trailing arms off in one piece and then put them on the 2800cs subframe. Email me privately if you need more info.
