I installed 73 3.0CS front bumper on a 71 2800CS body and the rear attachment points are NOT in the same location. The 2800 CS points are further to the rear on the fenders. With that said, I suppose it could be a difference in length of the bumper support brackets between the two models.

sorry, i believe you're mistaken about the bumpers.

the bumpers on a 2800CS and 3.0CS are the same.

the only differeces were in 1973 US cars had a spacer and different guards on the front and, of course, in 1974 bumpers were the infamous 5-mph monsters.

There are minor body reinforcements added on 3.0's (probably to handle the extra power). I believer 2800's were only available with manual sunroofs (possible to retrofit to electric, but no mounting plate for switch). Front bumpers wrapped further around sides on 2800 (end further to rear).

• 2800 = 2788 cc; 3.0 = 2985 cc (86 mm bore vs. 89 mm bore)

• 2800 = frt solid dsc, rear drum; 3.0 = 4-whl ventilated discs

• 2800 = ZF 4-spd; 3.0 = getrag (with diff ratios)

• a few little things like switches, knobs, etc.

anyone else want to chime in?
