if you were to do that, how would you know you aren't overheating anyway? i mean, if the needle starts to get up there you should stop the car and cool it down, and without the thermostat you'll never know.

I'd go with a better radiator fan and leave the thermostat in place... it seems like removing it isn't worth the risk.

.......removing the thermostat? At first, I was shocked. Has anyone tried this before? It was suggested to me before my an experienced BMW/Mercedes mechanic. He stated that if the car was running a little hot, during the summer months will in traffic and everthing eles checked out (i.e. no clogged radiator was recently re-corded, no cracked head, new themostat, ect.) He said this would cut down on the heat that the engine produced and keep the car cooler because of the availabilty of more coolant.

As long as you don't over heat the engine, everything will be alright.

What do you think ?
