Removing a thermostat is a cheap way out of avoiding overheating. It can work in an older engine design like the CS's because keeping the coolant temperature at a constant level is not such a big deal, but it really screws up the more complicated computer controlled engines that run on a base temperature.

The proper fix is cleaning out the block and the radiator, ensuring the fan clutch is working correctly and making sure the engine timing is not part of the problem.
