while pnw steve has some good suggestions below, I would find a better locksmith than the one that you apparently talked to. Find one that has at least some experience with "dimple keys" and he should be able to look at your "valet" key and then get into the trunk pretty easy, just having to manipulate 1 pin (the extra one in the trunk lock). Ask around for a smith that knows older european cars, BMW was not the only ones to use these kind of keys...While this may not exactly be an inexpensive undertaking, the grief of fixing any "slips" incurred while trying to break in might be more of a hassle.
Of course if you DO want to just twist out the lock with a screwdriver, I think I have a replacement to sell you that you could repin to fit your 'valet' key....
