I have a '67 2000CS and I enjoy it, but agree the brakes are poor. There are ways to upgrade using later calipers and master cylinders--do you see the small size of the M/C on those models?--and I'd suggest a chat with Carl Nelson at CNPR in La Jolla about these. 800-466-8184. He's got a special touch with the 2000's.
Can it be made into a 'Club Racer" like a 2002? No. Too heavy. If you want a club racer you'll need to get into a lighter and more tossable '02.
