We are talking USA. Oh no, now this is another variable to consider. I actually have the black plastic or rubber brackets on my chrome bumpers which "space them out from the car" on the rear. Not on the front. But it could be that they were removed to protect the front fenders from damage.
this is kind of silly, but... if it's a CS and a USA-imported one:

72 has the propper bumeprs
73 has the pushed-out Euro bumpers (brackets space them out from the body a little)
