Are you sure you want to do that? The ZF that currently lives in your bellhousing is a smoother, lighter shifting transmission than the heavier, notchy Getrags, though the ZF of course has those 2nd gear synchro issues. The ratios in the 5-speed are also shorter than what you have now -- not neccessarily the best match to the wide power band (for lack of a better term) of the 2.8. Michael
'70 2800cs
Hello! (accidentally posed last message empty)
I have a 1971 2800CS, with the standard 4-speed and 3.64? Differential. I also have a 1979 6-series dog-leg 5-speed tranny & a 4.10 differential. Although both of these should "bolt-in" to the 2800 nicely, any idea how much work is required on the drive-shaft? Is it easy, or do I have to basically cut the ront 1/2 from a 6er and the back from a CS and put them together?
