You are going to have to meet the DOT and EPA standards for that car with what it was required for it in 76. Also, it is probably a 75 since BMW never officialy made a 76 coupe and it is one of those that got titled in 76. As far as I know they did not come in 5-spd and it is a conversion.
I brought in a 73 CSL just last month into CA, and I just had to pay the customs and have it inspected by the agricultural inspector, that was it.
