it depends on the state, here in CA they are insane about emissions but noone checks any DOT stuff like lights. Check your local laws (which may have changed by now anyway)

Hey everyone! Got a quick question. Used to a own a 74 cs euro model (i live in the states) and was just barely able to get it registered due to the lack of DOT certified stuff installed on it. (tailights, headlights, gauges, no VIN visible through windshield)
Now I'm considering buying a 76 euro csi and I'm wondering if anyone has attemped to get one these registered. I know I'm a glutton for punishment, but it's a european model with a 5 speed and I just can't help myself. By the way, did they even come with 5 speeds back then or is this one have a newer tranny installed?
Thanks
Tob
