You can't make a blanket statement about salvaged vehicles and use that to make a decision. Each vehicle has to be assessed and decided on on a case by case basis. Without knowing the history of the vehicle it can be very difficult to know why it has the salvaged title. Most are from damage, some are from being stripped, some are just salvaged to clear all the back penalties on registration. If a mechanic familiar with CS's checked out the car, you have to be sure that the car isn't one of his customers, or someone he might be helping sell the car for. I've seen it all. Cars that weren't all that badly damaged that were glued back together by amateurs and sold as "excellent", to cars that have had complete rear clips put on and are like new when finished.Typcially, the value of salvaged vehicles are 25-35% below market value of a comparable car. They also have a much smaller resell market because the term "salvaged" scares people away.
