some have used E28 motors... you out there? (archive)

there's a guy with an E28 motor setup out here. He has a E28 harness in his car, but I bet one could adapt the wiring. this gives you faster, better, motors that are easy to find if they do fail.

anyone know more about them?

my car has manuals in the front.

i changed my fronts to manual (the rear were all electric - even the 2CS i think). well, i got a friend to do it.... are you out there john? it was not a big deal and my replacement door panels were from the car with manual windows, so no problem there either. manual is certainly faster; however, in hindsight i think that changing the motors would have been the way to go. i have a hard time believing that the regulators were only used on CS, i'm sure that some other car company must have used the same regulators - or maybe something from another model will fit. i have a cruddy pair of used manual regulators yu can have cheap - $20/each, what i paid for them...just have to find them in the heap...

They are frustrating, because they are slow, but what is it that breaks in yours? And, yes you can convert them easily with a change of the regulators from a manual window CS and a pair of handles. It just bolts right in. I changed my CSi front windows from manual to automatic without any problems. I am keeping my old parts though, but I am sure someone on this board has them for sale.
