In my opinion - and that of many collectors - the Euro coupes are actually MORE desireable. Though the arguments you make regarding problematic injection and the unsubstanbtiated paranoi of gray market cars scaring folks *may* have a bit of truth - the reasons the Euro cars have a following is as follows:

no US "safety first children" reflectors, bumper reinforcements, or extra weight penalties*

*some folks prefer cloth and manual windows to heavy leather and power windows - less weight = quicker performance!! ;-)

Also - NONE (repeat NONE) of the USA specific bumper parts are available any longer - and BMW has NO plans to reproduce a US only part. The 73 owners are also hurt by this - but the US 74 bumpers are (and will continue to be) impossible to replace with new parts.

If I was choosing between a car with cloth, manual windows and available bumper parts - versus a loaded heavier car with irreplaceable crash parts - it's be an easy decision.

Plus - the Euro cars have a certain amount of "unmolested" cache; having often avoided the dreadful DOT strangulation and "safety" add ons.

The injection - is basically simple and reliable - providing it gets all the love and nourishment it deserves after 20+ years. Carbs are a snap - but the CSi can log 200K+ miles without major overhaul.

I'm a carburettor guy - but I'll take a Euro car ANYDAY - all other things being equal. Leather is nice - lasts longer, and is easier to clean - but that cloth is absolutely luscious when it's in good shape.
