I believe its just personal preference for the format you like. I prefer this style of forum because I just use it whenever I have time. I go to it, instead of it coming to me.I also feel that the CSR goes about the "dues" the wrong way and have turned off a number of people. They heavily promote the newsletter as being a big reason for the cost, at least when I was on the list they did, plus the expense associated with the list. I didn't want a hardcopy newsletter, but that didn't matter, the fees are the same. I think that if they ran it as a donation instead of forced dues they would probably earn enough to sustain the cost, AND it would be much easier to manage. Besides, don't the advertisers pay CSR?
I've said it before... www.jag-lovers.org is one of the premier online organizations, with thousands of members. The entire site/system is provided free to the users. ALL of their information is free and open to the public. CSR is old school. Just my opinion of course.
This is why i started the openE9 list: no dues, no newsletter, no this , no that, oh, and no attitude at all :) ... just a place for people to chat about E9's. Its new so there isn't much traffic. jon up!
