Funny you mention that, actually. I had to get a new head 2 years ago, and carby heads are only available new at appalling prices. So my car is now wearing an '84' stamp injection head. This means that the pushrod-driven mechanical pump is gone, and a little electric pump sit back by the tank.So in fact wiring a switch into the fuel line would be quite easy.
On the other hand, I'm not sure I like the idea of the car just dying somewhere in the traffic after 2 minutes. One of the guys in our NSW BMW club actually bought a wheel clamp for his cars (2002 & new 328CSi). Bit of a hassle, but there are no problems with obsolesnce...
cheers,
Graeme
