the CS Register/Registry has been an excellent medium for sharing info between shade tree mechanics as well as the occasional professional (CNPR comes to mind). back-issues are invaluable. no question.
but what about the issues to come? what are the benefits of memberhsip today? does it offer anything i can't get off the web? does it offer anything this message board doesn't?
as far as i can tell, the only benefit is for people who are not (yet) on the web.
publications like road & track can justify their existence in print because it's written by professionals. you pay for it with the understanding/presumption that the publication offers a professional level of expertise, insight, etc.
CSR, on the other hand, is a bunch of guys -- a good bunch -- who are basically sitting around "chewing the fat."
we can do that right here just fine.
