Radiator Clearance Problem (archive)

I am finishing up my 3.5 install into my '73 3.0 CS. I used the newer style water pump, clutch and 9-blade fan. When I tried to test fit my old radiator (from an automatic so I need to replace it anyway)there was no clearance between the fan blade and radiator. Any suggestions? Can I use washers between the fan blade and mount to gain a bit of space - or am I going to have balance problems? Is there a radiator that will provide more room? Should I get a used radiator and have it modified?
