Bob--the NOS cam was the right choice for me (being that guy that drove 3400+miles without A/C, and no complaints). The rev band is much more usable and linear. Still rips pretty well, and those headers and pipes really sound great--particularly under bridges (alas, south Texas has no tunnels, atleast paved tunnels...). My only complaint is that I tend to overrev my other car just to get nearly the same engine feedback. The Tii pistons with the stock cam is a smooth/robust combination--and the 4-speed is fine for now. I was told the 32/36 progressive is keeping the engine from being all it can be, but it's definately enough.

I recently replaced a perfectly good Schrick 304 degree cam in my 3.0CS with a NOS (new old stock) Euro OEM type cam (under $145 as I remember) and the car is more pleasant to drive.

It doesn't have the same poop above 4500 rpm, but it idles better, and pulls better in the rev band we usually drive at on the street.

The car recently migrated to Texas and cruised (with the 4 spd) up to 90 mph w/o complaint I am told.

Bob

My dry, cold compression test results are 140, 148, 137, 153, 148, 148.

Per the blue book, less than 142 psi is poor, so cylinders 1 and three are poor, the rest are normal (142 to 156 psi).

Since my coolant is foamy, I'm pretty much committed to doing a top end overhaul. I think the cam is good, although I haven't checked lately, while it's out, is there/what are the suggestions for sportier cam I could put in? I'm not a haul-ass driver, so I don't want a big lumpy stick that'll only be happy at top end.

TIA, Charlie
Charlie
