Carbuerators

After much soul searching and advice from many on this board (Bill, Bob, Dale, etc.) along with Carl Nelson, I removed my triple weber DCOE 40s. The car just didn't seem to pull like I thought it should. In their place, I had dual 38 DGAS' installed. I am more than happy with the results. The engine idles much better and there is more torque throughout the entire powerband. The downside is that the engine bay is not nearly as fun to look at. Triple webers are a thing of beauty to look at and listen to.

Shocks

For some reason, POs of my car had installed a combination of 2002 shocks and E12 springs which made for an interesting ride especially to the rear. I replaced both and chose Bilstein HDs and springs from Carl Nelson. Again, the right decision (thanks Carl). These cars can actually handle pretty well! I plan to add a set of sway bars from Carl next Spring to round out the suspension.

Mechanics

I am located south of Boston so I can help you with a mechanic in Chicago.

Good luck. There is a wealth of knowledge on this board so use the archives first

Hi I'm new here. Never done the messege boards thing. I just bought a '71 2800, and I have a couple of questions for anybody who wants to help.

1. I have heard that the triple webers are the way to go for replacing the zenith carbs. Is this accurate, or are there better options?

2. The rear shocks are done for. What kind of suspension would you folks suggest?

3. Does anyone know a mechanic in the Chicagoland area who does good work on E9's?

Thanks

C. Mitchell
