while i think it's true to some degree that the factory installed misc parts with some variation over the course of production, i personally think these inconsistencies are greatly exaggerated today.

most of these cars have been monkeyed with over the years; the parts in question have been changed/upgraded/bastardized over the course of almost 30 years.

this is BMW we're talking about, not alfa romeo.
