BMW offered the "M535i" with two different motors in Europe:

M4535i The high compression motor had 10:1 comp and NO cat. converter - and a different ECU fropm the US cars.

The DID however offer the same car in Europe (badged as "M535i" or M535i kat) with a cat. converter equipped exhaust - and the SAME motor WE got here in the USA in our 85-87 cars. The ECU number or VIN is the way to tell what you've got.

Either way - it would make for a nice machine!

...just clarifying!
