1) it is VERY hard to keep a black and yellow CA plate on your car now-a-days when changing ownership. I've been waiting for 8 months while Sacramento "reviews" my paperwork on a 68 1600, all because I told them "I want to keep the old plates." It wouldn't surprise me if our CA DMV is just replacing ALL plates now as a matter of course. BUT I am not saying they do this all the time, it just wouldn't surprise me!
2) I'm pretty sure that in 1969 CA went to blue and yellow plates, which would be what the 6-cylinder coupes got as a rule.
3) If the seller says the car's in CA, it has CA plates, and describes it as a CA car, why publicly question those facts and rather tactlessly and publicly malign the seller? If you're really THAT distrusting of a seller's description, I think that you may remain "coupeless" for a long time!
