While rebuilding one of my original Zenith carbs ('73 3.0CS) in preparation to sell the car, I discovered that part of the linkage connected to the secondary butterfly would hit the carb base plate and not open more than about a quarter of the way. This is definately a manufacturing defect and one that I did not pick up on during the rebuild I did 16 years ago. All it took was a bit of filing with a rat tail file.

Moral, check the operation of your vacuum secondaries for full travel. The clearance is between the linkage (spring loaded stop) and the throttle plate is very small indeed.

Also, check out the "BMW's for Sale" section for a description of my car that is for sale. 8500 miles since restoration in 85.
