The throttle pedal linkage pivots in nylon (or some other plastic type material) bushings located in the brake booster/master cylinder support. Over time, the bushing disentegrate and completely fall out. To replace the bushings, you must remove the lever attached to the linkage where it enters the engine compartment (at the booster support). Then disconnect the linkage from the throttle pedal. Now the rod/linkage assembly can be remove from inside the car. The new bushings then can be pushed into place, greased and the linkage reassembled. Note that the bushings used on the six series (early ones anyway) are exactly the same so the bushings should be still available.

there is alot of play in my gas pedal and it only seems to be getting worse. is there a quick fix for this or do i have to get a new throttle arm linkage part?
