Vacumn plating is fragile and will rub off over time. Look at plastic GM dashboards from the 60's and 70's, or the instrument surrounds on a early 2002 instrument cluster.
Plastic electroplating actually coats the plastic with copper and then plates that with actual chrome. When damaged, it will peel up and off, ala the chrome armrest caps on the CS.
The fender grilles need be plastic electroplated or the result will NOT be satisfactory.
What does this place do?
