Detailed instructions on how to remove the clock (essentially described in the other posts here) and ways to fix the common problems associated with a failing clock were included in an article last year in the CS Register. If I had a scanner I would scan the article for you, but I don't.

From my (failing) memory, there are a set of points within the clock which have a tendency to stick closed. Cleaning these points either with contact cleaner or fine grit paper will sometimes help bring the clock and its self winding mechanism back to life, which runs on the minute.

The article went on to say that you should run the clock for awhile removed from the car to make sure that it continues to work prior to reinstall.

Your final challenge will be to reinstall the clock in the panel (lying on your back looking up and cursing trying to get the two nuts back on the back). That's about when the points will stick shut again :).

Good luck!

Thanks Charlie¡ will try over the weekend
the instruments are removed by turning them "1 hour" of rotation (I forget which direction), then they come out of the panel to you. The trick is that there are two knurled nuts on each, which must be loosened first. AND, getting to the knurled items is a challenge.

Again, don't remove the binnacle.
