"Running out of breath" at high rpm can be a fuel pump that isn't keeping up, or a fuel delivery problem. Suggest verifying the capability/capacity of the pump.

There could be other areas besides the pump that prevent sufficient gas from getting in, but I don't recall how the system is set up. Seems to me that D-jet needs to know the difference between manifold pressure and atmospheric, but you probably got onto that.

I have seen a scanned version of the Bosch manual for D-jet, and printed my own version. I don't remember where I got it, but a web search should lead you to it - it worked for me.
