the front grilles make sence I think - always chrome except for black on 74/75 and CSL's

hood and side should be chrome if it's a dark color, black if it's a light color. however I'm told that after a while the chrome replacements were NLA and the black were still (are?) avaliable so people began to change over when they got dinged up.

My '74 is a darn color and has chrome sides but black hood grilles - I suspect the car had chrome hood ones at some point. when they painted it they didn't put the black side under-grille sticker on either. ah well.

yeah yours should be black (and a chrome front) I would think.
