has chrome on the hood and sides with a black sticker under the side grills and I believe they are the original trim. The color is Ceylon, fairly light.

I always thought (and have often seen) chrome fender and hood grilles on early E9s (up to '73, VIN 22xxxxx). Now, based on information from Walloth & Nesch, the restoration shop tells me that my '72 CSi should have black grilles as it has a light exterior color (polaris). Chrome grilles were apparently only fitted to dark colored cars.

What's the final word on this?
