Its been a few years since I had my 71 2800CS Automatic but I remember it feeling like the power was all sucked away by the automatic. Although it was set up properly it always felt like it was taking off in second gear and just didn't have the Go it should have. Mine also had a fairly tired engine so that didn't help any either but I always wondered if I should have converted to a 5-speed rather than selling it. The AT basically ruined a great car. Another alternative I was thinking was converting to a modern automatic from mid 80s 5 series.

Can anybody give me some info on the automatic transmission for a 2800 CS, How reliable, how good etc..
