When I moved back from the UK to NZ I looked at shipping my Alfa back. Cheapest quote was 800 UKPounds. You can't really get further around the globe than that, (unless maybe you went from England to Ireland the *wrong way* around the world! ;-)

As for putting cars in containers I had friends who worked for a company in LA that specialised in doing exactly that. They used to build this structure that would get three cars into one large container. One on the ground in the middle and one either end on an angle. Last one I saw had a mint 66 mustang in it, and I've often thought about whether the structure would hold if the container came down with a heavy bump. Anyway I guess it must have been strong as they were shipping a heap of cars all over the world...
