how to clean the headliner? (archive)

I have a '72 3.0 cs with a filthy vinyl headliner. I've tried vinyl cleaners... which did practically nothing. Plus, it's difficult to clean in those textured "holes".

Other than replacing the headliner (mine's in perfect condition except for the grunge), how did you get yours clean? I'm beginning to wonder if it's just stained and something I'll have to live with.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
