Hi All

Hope you can help - I live in Switzerland and have spotted an E9 coupe I'm trying to track down the owner of (with a view to buying).

I've had a quick look around the car (dark and raining, with the aid of a torch!) and would appreciate help identifying which model it may be. It's got;

* No badges or identification on the back
* Rear drum brakes
* No chrome arch extensions
* No rust I could find (probing my fingers into/under all the wheel arches)!
* Black cloth bucket seats

So, I'm assuming it's the early 2.8, or did the newer 2.5's also have rear drums? I'd also guess the car has been restored at some point - there wasn't even a huge amount of muck under any of the wheel arches.

Apart from the drum brakes and carbs, what other mechanical differences are there between the 2.8's and 3 litres? If I were to purchase, it'd be for my wife initally - if all goes well I'd look at putting in a 3.5 with 5 speed at some point.

Many thanks, I can hopefully track down the owner soon (someone's already said it had a 'for sale' sign on it a few months back :-)) - reading through this board I think I know all the main places to check for rust, is there anything specific on the mechanicals I should check?

Cheers
Richard
