Either the muffler was blocked due to a loose baffle (most likely the problem), or your D-jet was running rich and flooded the muffler with gas, which then ignited and blew the muffler up. You need a new muffler anyway, so I'd replace the whole exhaust, or at least both mufflers, with genuine BMW (usually made by Eberspacher or Boyesen) mufflers and see how it runs. If it's fixed, good on ya, if not, back to the drawing board.
