Time To Get Serious About Buying a Coupe (archive)

Now that I've sold my 5 series, I'm in a better position to look for a coupe. I was considering a fixer upper, but now my options are a bit wider.

If anyone's selling or knows of good car, please let me know. My preferences are: 3.0cs, air, stick, leather, sunroof not important (if it needs paint I'd prefer not to have to mess with a roof). Prefer Polaris with blue, Fjord with blue, other colors and combinations considered, of course. I've had my fill of white BMWs and I'd rather not have or do a color change. Prefer '73 or '74 (Andrey, I actually like the big bumpers. Sick, huh?). So far this wish list sounds like everyone else looking, I know.

I'll deal with a worn interior or paint, but I don't want to get into rust repair.

A CSL worth buying is probably out of my reach. Not sure about a CSi, but if it has the right equipment I could be talked into it.

I watch eBay, but I can't imagine buying a coupe that way without having seen it firsthand. I'm limiting my search to CA, AZ, NV and NM at this point.
