I have an aged Korman stage 2 3.0, built in 1980. It has a euro-spec distributor, Bosch p/n 023 1184 008 with no vacuum connection. Timing is at 1100-1200 rpms off the flywheel ball.

Works great with Korman's setup (3x40 DCOEs, 300 degree cam, 9.5 pistons, headwork, etc.)
This engine will chug along at 1200 rpms, gets close to 20mpg on trips (5 speed and leanest set of jets) and pulls really strongly from 3500-7200 rpms.

I put on an MSD6A years ago trying to pass emissions (too much cam overlap=too many HC), but I'm still running points! One of these days, I'll get a Pertronix.

Hope this is of some use.
