... at least in this case. IMHO, if the seller is just trying to generate interest in his CSL by posting it on ebay, i would think that putting the car on ebay and NOT making its target price will only cheapen the car by showing what it won't fetch on the open market.

on the other hand, i wouldn't write off top-dollar buyers on ebay--they're out there. a close friend of mine recently sold his mint 280SL on ebay for $39.5K to a seller who bought it only by looking at the pix online. never made a trip to look at it in the flesh before bidding! (and, fortunately, is very happy with the car today.)
