Broke speedo...Need help (archive)

My speedo has stopped working on my 4 speed. Do you all have any ideas of where to start other than making sure the cable didn't fall out of the tranny. I have removed the speedo and turned the input cable and the indicator moves. Could this be in the gear box. Anyone experience this? Thanks!
