Congratulations. There are a few others of us out here.
The 2000CS (and it's predecessor sedans) are kind of BMW orphans, largely unknown and ignored, so not much specific info available.

You'll find that for adjusting the carbs there is a fairly basic process that applies to all multi carb setups. There is a lot of information available for Webers, including several books. The one by Pat Braden, Weber Carburetors, published by HP books is well regarded.

Before you mess with the carbs, make sure your ignition side is right (plugs, points, timing).

The shifter is like the early 2002 arrangement. There are a couple of bushings at the bottom of the shifter (under the car) with a big pin through them. All 3 parts wear with age and should be replaced. If that doesn't do it, there is a coupling at the transmission.
