also, it seems lots of euro imports are of italian origin. you can often tell the italian models because of their turn signals installed in the front fenders. in the case of the E9, it was a half-amber, half-red turn signal/running light on either fender. also, the rear license plate bracket/holder often had a hinge on it to allow access to the trunk lock since the rear plates on italian cars of that vintage were fairly large, vertically.

i suppose a french car would have a pair of amber headlights if it had its original setup still on it.
