Can anyone on this board relay any advice on bringing a car from overseas to the US? Give the good and the bad. Is it a foolish endeavor?

Thanks

I recently brought my '73 3.0csi over here along with the move of my family.
A car older than 25 years is exempetd from DOT and EPA standards. There are two formsheets which need to be stamped by customes at the port of entry. Then register the car at the DMV with proof of ownership etc.
For cars younger than that...yes, that's a different story. Further information is posted on www.dmv.org.

I had good experience with RoRo shipping of the car from Bremerhaven/Germany to Newark.
Important is to have an adequate insurance for the car.
