There is no work that needs to be done for model year 73 and lower. I brought a 73 CSL from Italy and customs signed all the exemption forms for DOT and EPA and then registered it.
For 74 and higher, I think you have to meet the regulations that were in force at the time.
So, if you have a 72 CSi or considering one, just bring it over.
