One option would be to coat the first several inches of each pipe with a ceramic based heat shielding paint. I forget the name of the paint, but it works wonderfully. Space Shuttle type technology.

Does anyone who uses exhaust headers on their coupe, E3 or other bix six know whether the heat from the header will destroy the spark plug wires eventually? I ran my engine today with the headers installed and there was a lot of heat radiating off the pipes. I used only the six individual exhaust gaskets for each exhaust port, as opposed to the large gasket for each manifold which incorporates a heat shield. The reason I did this because I didn't want to cover the view of the beautifully crafted exhaust headers. Does anyone know whether I'm going to run into trouble or have a melt down?

Best regards, Tom Colitt
