BEFORE you start removing the upper dash, REMOVE the windshield vent hoses below so you can pull the vents up (still attached) to the dash high enough so you can slide the vent off of the clip. They are nearly impossible to unclip from below.
Without doing this, the vents will likely become useless due to the damage that occurs when the vent openings on the vinyl dash crush the 30+ year-old molded plastic. This could be a very costly mistake because.
