silly ?: does "liquid leather" work? (archive)

there's a commercial that's been airing awhile for a product named "liquid leather" that supposedly repairs rips in leather with a liquid "patch." you fill in the rip/crack with the solution & cover it with a textured piece of vinyl & once it dries, the rip vanishes.

has anyone used this product? i'm not in the habit of believing these kinds of commercials, but the product, in theory, is similar to leatherique's crack-filler (another product i've never used, but at least i've heard from some people that it works.)

a friend is considering using this product on the seats & dash of his 3.0CS.

any insight would be appreciated.
